The CM8S 8-1/2 inch single bevel sliding compound miter saw features a Bosch exclusive design delivering a well-balanced saw with a top carry handle at the center of gravity and weighs only 37 pounds. These features easily provide one-handed portability on and off the job. Accessible controls make it easy to change bevel settings without reaching behind the saw. The integrated expanding work piece supports, large easy to read miter and bevel scales, and detent system provides quick and accurate cuts. The CM8S also has the same crosscut capacity (12-1/4 inch) as a 10 inch miter saw, at 30% lighter weight.
With a maximum cut depth of 3.125 inches and a 32.5-inch rip capacity, the 10-inch blade of this DeWalt table saw handled all the relatively light-duty board ripping I needed from it, but I also tested it against a variety of plywood and other board sizes to assess its capability. The 15-amp motor is fairly standard for this contractor or job site level of table saw, and none of the boards I threw at it caused it to bind—good news, as binding is at best annoying and at worst dangerous.
Most table saw blades come in 8, 10 or 12inchs in diameter, but you can also get a lot smaller and larger sizes if you require special cut sizes and cut depth sizes. When looking for a new blade when it comes to sizes, blades are measured in two sizes mainly, the mounting hole and the total blade diameter, make sure you take the mounting hole size in to consideration when buying a new blade as this could be something very easily over looked but could cause an issue.
Hello, Thank you for your comment. We have been a full line Jet Distributor for over 25 years. We do sell the Jet table saws but for some reason or another they did not make the list. Jet’s Table saws are high quality and offer a great value but it seems that in all cases we looked at there was a different unit that performed slightly better. This does not mean that the Jet table saws are bad, it just means that in our categories they didn’t come out in the #1 position.
Ironically, it’s the more experienced carpenters that are more likely to get injured whilst using a table saw. Research has shown that most injuries are reported by carpenters with more than 18 years of experience. The reason for this is complacency, people tend to become more relaxed over the years. So it’s important to maintain a healthy respect for the machine that you’re working with and never forget the possible danger that you face, no matter how proficient you become.
The built-in rack and pinion fence system, which acts as a guide for boards that runs parallel to the blade, adjusts by hand and is both easy to use and very accurate. I learned to trust the fence and its measurements once I got the saw set up, and it made my workflow faster knowing I didn’t have to measure everything four times to double-check the DeWalt.

As with most job-site table saws on the market, the DWE7491RS comes with a rolling stand included in the box. The wheels are pretty heavy-duty and capable of handling rough terrain and even staircases I experienced no problems with. Besides the easy transportation, you can store you saw upright in its folded position in your van to save space. The same goes for your workshop of course.

The legs fold easily with an intuitive mechanism that feels well thought out, and the safety attachments stow away within the unit, reducing its form factor and allowing it to be tucked away in a corner when not in use. However, the unit does weigh 90 pounds, so if you’re going to be loading it in and out of a truck bed several times a day or needing to haul it up and down the stairs where the wheels can’t help you, you may want to look at a lighter job site saw that dispenses with the stand.

The first ever brass-geared worm drive table saw was first developed by Skilsaw to meet the growing needs of woodworkers on the go. This foldable and compact table saw has made it possible to cut materials faster even in remote construction sites.
Blade guards are an important safety device and should never be removed from the saw. You want to find one that rises up parallel to the table so it is always on top of the material you are working with. The purpose of this blade guard is to protect you from the spinning blade. While some woodworkers find them annoying, the safety they provide is well worth the inconvenience.

Another important safety feature to consider is a magnetic switch. Magnetic switches are there in case of power cuts or outages and will also protect the table saw motor from over load. Effectively it will switch off the power supply the instant the power goes off ensuring you don’t have a saw blade spinning away in the dark! As you can imagine this is a very useful and must have safety feature when looking to purchase a new table saw.

The trunnion, which is the part of the saw where the blade is mounted, is usually housed within the enclosure. The added stability of this construction gives your cuts more accuracy. Also, because of their solid construction, these saws are consistently more durable and last longer than smaller and more movable versions, sometimes literally lasting a lifetime.
Hybrid saws will often match in terms of power but very rarely have the stability and durability of a cabinet saw, so often they work well in a home work shop where you can add extra stands etc to help. One thing to think about though is that because they won’t be as stable this can often compromise on the quality of the cuts, this is something you must think about when deciding. Read More

A lot of the modern table saws nowadays will have a dust collection port where you can hook up a vacuum or extraction system to it. We would always recommend that you purchase a table saw with a dust port, always check the size of the port to make sure it fits with either your vacuum or your extraction system, or you can always modify something to make them fit.
A simple push stick comes standard with most saws. If you don’t have a push stick, it’s easy to improvise one by cutting a strip of plywood with a notch cut into one end that will enable you to press the wood down as you feed it through with the stick. While push sticks are very common, they are not the best tool for the job. This is because they don’t give you much directional control. You can ask any experienced carpenter and they’ll tell you that a push handle is far superior. A push handle allows you to press down on the wood that you’re cutting with the force of your hand, giving you much better control.
Once you’ve made sure that the table saw is unplugged and there aren’t any extra materials in your workspace, you should turn your attention to the miter slot. See also related: Top 10 Miter Saws here. You’ll want to make sure that the miter (click here for sliding miter saws) slot is parallel to the blade. It is important that all measurements are precise and exact – nothing short of parallel will do. Once you’ve measured the blade and the miter slot, you’ll need to check the fencing as well.

Each of the following three styles of table saw is designed with a certain type of user in mind. Whether you’re a first-time woodworker, dedicated hobbyist, or professional construction worker, there’s a table saw out there for you. Before we get into the nitty-gritty of what makes a great table saw, we need to discuss the different types of table saws that you might consider purchasing.

Meanwhile, the most updated Ridgid table saw boasts of a heavy duty portable body with stand. This has a 15-amp motor with 4000 rpm. This is an updated table saw that provides a single-point release for simple assembly and disassembly. First off, consider how often you’ll put your table saw to use. If you work in the fields of contracting or carpentry, there’s a chance you’ll be using your new machine pretty often—so you may as well invest in a more expensive, heavy-duty table saw that’s sure to last longer than the average model. On the other hand, hobbyists and weekend woodworkers won’t need a pricey piece of machinery—a more compact and inexpensive model should do just fine, especially if you’re only working on smaller projects like birdhouses and DIY wooden models.
